Summer Schedule Update
The remainder of the summer recreational gymnastics schedule has been finalized and, as previously reported, Session 6 includes an extra week for the same price. During the summer, our students will be busy learning new skills and preparing for our own Mini-Olympics. Yes, in addition to our regular classes, we will be holding our second annual Mini-Olympics program on Saturday afternoon, August 15. Each student will have a chance to showcase what he or she has learned in an exhibition format with awards ceremonies, so get those cameras out. Although nine weeks in length, plus the Mini-Olympics exhibition, the standard eight-week session tuition applies. This allows flexibility for your other summer activities and vacation without the worry of having to schedule lots of “make-ups”.
Encore Hosts Its First Meet
June 1, 2009. Encore had the pleasure of hosting our first gymnastics meet here at the gym on May 30-31. Our Hollywood Stars meet attracted over 220 EAGLES competitors and about 800 spectators over four competitive sessions. Aside from a few minor first time glitches, everything ran very smoothly and the competitors enjoyed getting their medals and team posters. Our teams finished first and second in their respective levels and their posters are hanging proudly in the “cubby” room. We are looking forward to an even bigger meet next year.
EAGLES Teams Finish Strong - Capture State Title
June 15, 2009. Our EAGLES competitive gymnastics teams capped a successful season with outstanding performances at the State Meet June 13-14 in Castle Rock. Our Level 5 Optional team captured the 2009 State Team Title, edging out Lakes Gymnastics by a mere 25/1000ths of a point, 108.100 to 108.075. The team was led by Emma Peterson who captured 2nd all-around and Kailey Epp who finished 3rd. Strong performances by Samantha Flower, Olivia Guarino, Courtney Higgins, Emily Lauman, Tori Murphy and Paige Tolleson capped a successful season in which the team had four first place finishes in the five meets leading to the State meet.
The Level 6 Optional team took second place at state, led by all-around fourth place finisher Katie Ingui. There were also strong contributions by Brooke Kovaleski, Kalynn Reinhold and Reagan Weber. Team member Katie Kopchik was unable to compete. Kelsey Krebsbach had a successful competition at Level 7 Optional, but teammate Amanda Clements as unable to compete due to an injury and Encore was not eligible for the team title. Congratulations to all team members and a big thanks to head coach Alyssa.
